Iowa student, 18, charged with making false report

DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) — Police say that an Iowa college student who falsely claimed that she was kidnapped and assaulted last month has been charged with making a false report.

Police in Dubuque arrested 18-year-old Robin Ann Levitski on Friday on a warrant charging her one count of making a false report to a public safety agency. The Clarke University student from Warren, Ill., is being held at the Dubuque County Jail pending an initial court appearance Saturday.

Police said that Levitski falsely claimed that she was taken against her will on Oct. 23 from the Clarke campus to a Dubuque residence, where a man assaulted her.

Assistant Police Chief Terry Tobin says Levitski later admitted the report was false after investigators confronted her with inconsistencies they uncovered.

Levitski doesn’t yet have an attorney.
