RED OAK, Iowa (AP) — Authorities in southwest Iowa say a man accused of dousing a woman in gasoline has turned himself in.
William Wayne Elliott turned himself in Wednesday morning at the Montgomery County Law Enforcement Center in Red Oak. He is being held at the Montgomery County Jail.
The Red Oak Police Department says the 57-year-old Elliott forced a 22-year-old female acquaintance into his home basement on Nov. 11. He is accused of pouring gasoline on her and threatening to light her on fire.
Elliott faces charges of attempted murder and first-degree kidnapping. Court records do not list an attorney.
