NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa (AP) — Police say a North Liberty man is lucky to be alive after his blood alcohol level tested at nearly six times the legal driving limit.
The Iowa City Press-Citizen (http://icp-c.com/17R825g) says 56-year-old Dennis Dean McNatt is charged with drunken driving after being arrested in August.
Police were called to a liquor store by witnesses who said McNatt could hardly walk and was driving. Police found McNatt at his home. He told officers he had consumed a bottle of vodka and a couple of beers before driving to the liquor store.
A preliminary breath test showed his blood-alcohol level at .403. Blood drawn later determined the level to be .454 — enough to kill a person.
The legal limit to drive is .08.
McNatt could not be reached for comment.
