Iowan seeks new trial in child sex abuse case

FOREST CITY, Iowa (AP) — An 81-year-old northern Iowa man convicted in the sexual abuse of two 8-year-old girls has asked for a new trial.

The Mason City Globe Gazette says (http://bit.ly/1b06EYG) Clarence Miller’s motion is scheduled to be heard Tuesday morning in Winnebago County District Court in Forest City. He’s scheduled to be sentenced later in the day.

A jury convicted Miller, of Thompson, on Oct. 4 of two counts of sexual abuse involving the girls. Prosecutors say Miller assaulted the girls at his home between January 2010 and August 2012. Miller has denied any sexual abuse occurred.
