Cedar Falls OKs plan to expand outward for housing

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) — Cedar Falls is expanding outward by 100 acres for residential housing.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports (http://bit.ly/17RG3Ac ) the City Council approved three annexation applications Monday following a public hearing. The City Development Board in Des Moines must now approve it before it can receive residential zoning status.

The three properties include dozens of acres of farmland. A developer plans to build single-family units on the site, which is close to the city’s industrial park.

Cedar Falls is not new to annexation. It added 80 acres in 2005 and more than 180 acres in 2003.
