Officials: Fire started in corn bales in Iowa barn

HARLAN, Iowa (AP) — Officials say a fire in western Iowa was concentrated in a half-dozen bales of corn inside a barn.

Harlan Fire Chief Roger Bissen says the early Friday fire started in the bales stored inside the hoop barn. Tractors helped remove the burning bales from inside the structure.

Firefighters from several departments were summoned to the scene. Atlantic radio station KJAN says (http://bit.ly/1hnNHb5 ) no injuries were reported.

The barn sustained some damage to the canvass-style fabric covering the structure.
