LAKEVILLE, Minn. (AP) — A Minnesota high school student has died in a two-vehicle crash on a slushy road.
That brings the number of people killed in weather-related crashes to five since a snowstorm swept into Minnesota on Monday.
Lakeville police say the teen was a student at Lakeville North High School. She was driving her Pontiac Grand Prix when she lost control on a slush-covered road, slid sideways and collided with an SUV.
Lakeville Area Public Schools identifies the student as 16-year-old Alyssa Ettl (ET’-uhl), who was a junior. The district’s website calls Ettl “an exceptional student, athlete and friend to many.”
Counselors will be available at the school.
The crash happened at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday a quarter-mile north of the school.
The driver and passenger in the other vehicle had minor injuries.
