Branstad spokesman quits for job heading new firm

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The communications director for Gov. Terry Branstad is leaving the position to head a new marketing firm.

The governor’s office says in a news release Friday that Tim Albrecht will leave a position he’s held since November 2009. His last day as the governor’s spokesman will be Dec. 13.

Also Friday, Des Moines-based Redwave Communications announced Albrecht has been named director of a new data and digital marketing firm called Redwave Digital.

Redwave is a Republican-leaning consulting and direct mail firm run by David Kochel, a former executive director of the Iowa Republican Party and top Iowa consultant to former presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

Branstad says Jimmy Center will be the new director of communications. The 26-year-old Centers has been working as the Branstad campaign’s communications director.
