Cedar Rapids man injured while deer hunting

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — State officials say a Cedar Rapids man shot himself in the kneecap while hunting in central Iowa.

The Department of Natural Resources says 37-year-old Charles T. Nolte was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines on Saturday with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials say Nolte’s shotgun discharged while he was putting on his gloves before 1 p.m. Saturday. He was hunting in an area southwest of Melcher-Dallas, in Marion County.
