Officials: Iowa inmate escaped from work release

DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) — Officials say they’re searching for an inmate who failed to return from a work release program in Dubuque.

Department of Corrections spokesman Fred Scaletta says 35-year-old Ricky Eugene Tuthill, Jr. has been placed on escape status after he didn’t return Monday from a job to the Dubuque Work Release Facility.

Tuthill is serving a 15-year sentence for being a habitual offender. He was transferred to work release in September.

Officials say Tuthill has tattoos on his upper left arm and right arm. He also has tattoos on his chest, back and abdomen.
