DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — A historic house in Davenport has been deemed one of Iowa’s most endangered properties.
Ryan Rusnak, a community planner for the city, says he received confirmation this week that the Lambrite-Iles Peterson House is on a list of endangered properties compiled by Preservation Iowa. He submitted an application for the designation on behalf of the Davenport Historic Preservation Commission.
Rusnak tells the Quad-City Times (http://bit.ly/1jXvtPK ) that the designation will be a tool to raise awareness about the house’s importance.
The City Council declared the house a local landmark in July 2012. Built in 1857, it was deemed uninhabitable by the city in 2010.
The home is privately owned but local officials say it’s in disarray. A neighborhood group is trying to raise funds to document, stabilize and market the house.
