Hancock County police dog retires at age 10

GARNER, Iowa (AP) — Police dog Caesar is retiring from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department after four years of service.

The Mason City Globe Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/18Uwe7m ) the 10-year-old German shepherd came to the sheriff’s department after working with his handler for the Forest City Police Department.

Ownership of Caesar will go to his handler, deputy Andrew Klein.

Sheriff Scott Dodd says Caesar provided good service to the department, including serving search warrants, searching vehicles and helping to catch suspects.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department has two other police dogs.
