Crews begin to remove debris at Minneapolis fire

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Authorities are beginning to remove debris from the site of an apartment fire that injured 14 people in Minneapolis.

Assistant Fire Chief Cherie Penn says crews will be cautious and deliberate as they go through the building, which caught fire after an explosion Wednesday morning.

Penn says the Minneapolis Fire Department is still trying to determine whether everyone made it out of the building. The roof of the building had collapsed, so it was too dangerous for firefighters to enter it earlier.

The cause of the fire is also still unclear on Thursday morning.

Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges and Fire Chief John Fruetel are planning to provide an update to the media Thursday afternoon.
