CHARLES CITY, Iowa (AP) — A February trial has been scheduled for a 32-year-old Marble Rock man accused of making threatening 911 calls about shooting a police officer.
Court records say John Marzen has pleaded not guilty to a felony of going armed with intent and to three misdemeanors: harassment, public intoxication and carrying weapons.
His trial is scheduled to begin Feb. 20 in Floyd County District Court.
Authorities say Marzen had a loaded handgun and shotgun in his vehicle when he was arrested on Nov. 23. Authorities say they had traced cellphone calls made to dispatch centers in Cerro Gordo, Floyd and Franklin counties earlier that morning. According to the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, the caller said “a cop is going to get shot west of Marble Rock.”
