Police: Iowa man had high blood alcohol content

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — An Iowa City man has been accused of drunken driving and having a blood alcohol content that was nearly six times the legal limit.

Iowa City police say a woman reported she was a passenger in 28-year-old Levi B. Carter’s car early Friday. She says Carter drove off the road and hit a street sign.

Officers went to Carter’s home and observed he could barely stand. He said he drank two beers several hours prior.

Police say Carter was too intoxicated to complete a field sobriety test. A preliminary breath test gave a reading of .467 before it simply read that it was high.

The Iowa City Press-Citizen says (http://icp-c.com/1crGEGx ) Carter has been charged with a serious misdemeanor of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Records do not list an attorney.
