Police: Man rode Iowa airport carousel on dare

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say a man claimed he rode a baggage claim carousel at the Des Moines airport because of a dare.

Local police say the man created a security breach early Monday at Des Moines International Airport. He was apprehended a short time later.

Witnesses told police the man stuck his head through the baggage doorway before he crouched down and rode the moving belt around the secure area. He then came back out the other side.

The 27-year-old man, who has not been identified, told police he rode the carousel on a dare and didn’t think it was a serious offense. He later apologized and also admitted to drinking alcohol.

The Des Moines Register says (http://dmreg.co/1lL9Q0B ) no charges have been filed yet.
