Minn. college coach charged with sex crime

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A women’s basketball coach for a private Christian college in the western Twin Cities is charged with sexual conduct involving a 15-year-old girl.

Thirty-year-old Ryan Chmielewski (shim-uh-LES’-kee) of St. Bonifacius was charged Thursday with third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

The complaint accuses Chmielewski of a series of sex acts with the teen in her family’s home. Her father called police on Dec. 22.

According to the complaint, the two had connected on an Internet dating site. On Monday, detectives posed as the girl online to invite Chmielewski to her home. They arrested him when he arrived.

Chmielewski was head women’s basketball coach at Crown College in St. Bonifacius. The school tells the Star Tribune (http://strib.mn/1lYqp9t ) he’s been fired.

Chmielewski was in the Hennepin County Jail with bail set at $100,000.
