MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (AP) — A Marshalltown woman has been charged with five counts of child endangerment after a toddler was found wandering around a store parking lot.
The Marshalltown Times-Republican reports (http://bit.ly/1h17p9x) that 26-year-old Ruth Ramirez was cited Tuesday after police say she left five children alone in her vehicle while the wind chill hovered around 3 degrees.
Police were called after a customer saw a 2-year-old boy nearly hit by a car in the lot.
Investigating officers say they found four other children, all under 6, alone in Ramirez’s car. Police say the vehicle had just one booster seat when it had been used to transport all five children.
Police say Ramirez is the mother of only one of the children.
A phone number for Ramirez could not be found.
