Iowa woman surrenders in toddler’s drug death

DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — An eastern Iowa woman has surrendered to face charges related to the drug death of her 13-month-old daughter.

The Quad-City Times says (http://bit.ly/KCft5t ) 25-year-old Precious Bailey turned herself in to Davenport police on Monday. She remained in Scott County Jail on Tuesday. Online court records don’t list the name of her attorney.

Bailey and 24-year-old Spencer Smith, of Clinton, are charged with felony child endangerment resulting in death. Authorities say the couple’s daughter, Marlee Lynn Tracy, died Sept. 24 after ingesting methadone. The young girl was living with Bailey in Bettendorf at the time of her death.

Marlee was unresponsive and having trouble breathing when Bailey and Smith took her to a Clinton hospital. She died three days later at a hospital in Iowa City.
