IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — A consultant for Jack Hatch’s gubernatorial campaign has been reinstated to practice law after a brief suspension for failing to respond to an inquiry from regulators.
Chief Justice Mark Cady signed an order Tuesday reinstating Des Moines attorney John Hedgecoth, whose license was temporarily suspended Jan. 16.
The suspension order says Hedgecoth did not give a response to the Attorney Disciplinary Board about a pending complaint it received. Court officials warned last month that he had 20 days to respond before his license would be suspended, and he missed that deadline.
The complaint is confidential. Hedgecoth declined comment.
Tuesday’s order signals that Hedgecoth has now responded and paid a reinstatement fee.
In addition to practicing law, Hedgecoth is a paid consultant for Hatch, who’s challenging Republican Gov. Terry Branstad.
