MASON CITY, Iowa – A north Iowa man convicted of first-degree murder is having his appeal denied again.
Michael Weatherspoon, of Mason City, was found guilty back in 1998 in the killing of Jerry Dean. Authorities say Dean was killed during an argument over payment for an exotic dancer.
Weatherspoon had claimed self-defense and that Dean was mentally unstable. The Iowa Court of Appeals denied Weatherspoon’s second appeal.
