Learning about e-cigarettes

AUSTIN, Minn. — Leaders in Mower County are looking for more information about e-cigarettes.
The Austin City Council is trying to see if they pose any danger to the public.
The council will then decide if they should be treated like regular cigarettes and banned from public places.
City leaders say they are relatively new, so they want to learn as much information as they can before proceeding.
“Nobody really knows what they are yet,” Austin Mayor Tom Stiehm said. “We see other places treating them just like regular cigarettes. Are they harmful? If they are harmful, we certainly want to look at it.”
He says once they receive enough input, they will make a determination on what policy, if any, should be put into place.
