Today marks one week since two Mason City residents died in their home from carbon monoxide poisoning.
And in the week since that happened a local hardware store is seeing a significant uptick in carbon monoxide detector sales.
Managers tell us lots of people have been coming in, asking questions and purchasing the detectors.
“This is the time of year that people generally come in for carbon monoxide detectors, mostly because they’re using alternative heat sources and when you use alternative hear sources it is good to have a carbon monoxide tester in your house,” says Kris Kramer with Kramer Ace Hardware.
She says there are two different kinds of carbon monoxide detectors ones that are battery operated and ones that plug into an outlet.
She says the best bet is to have one of each.
