AUSTIN, Minn. — Mower County leaders are moving onto the next phase of a potential new wind farm.
This morning, the board approved the final draft of an environmental assessment for the Pleasant Valley Wind Farm Project.
It covers a sub-station and transmission line and also addresses all the possible environmental concerns the project could cause.
But county leaders say they are pleased with how everything went.
“RES was very forthcoming with all the information,” Commissioner Tony Bennett said. “Everything we requested for RES. There were some concerns from some of the public and they did a good job addressing those concerns as well.”
Res Americas, who is building the project, will now be moving onto the next stage, which will include selecting a route in which to build the line and applying for a conditional use permit.
