MASON CITY, Iowa - One north Iowa school is showing their students, it doesn’t take much to give back to your community.
To celebrate service during Catholic Schools Week, Newman Catholic is coordinating a “Mugs of Love” campaign.
Folks are asked to donate mugs, than students fill them with travel size toiletries such as lotion, toothbrushes and shampoo.
Administrators say it’s a great opportunity for students to see the benefits of service in their communities.
“Some homeless people don’t have stuff that we have. They don’t have food and they don’t have that much, so we help them,” said Storm Banks, student at Newman Catholic Elementary.
All donated items will be given out and delivered to our local shelters and community kitchen.
“We help people and we make stuff for them and we give it to the homeless people,” said Treyton Elwood, student at Newman Catholic Elementary.
Collection tables are set in the elementary commons area and by the high school for you to bring any donations.
