A north Iowa man is suing the county he lives in after he drove his car through a sinkhole.
Mark Evans from Osage, filed the lawsuit against Mitchell County claiming county officials did not use reasonable care to prevent his car from going into a sinkhole created by flash flooding in May.
Evans claims there was a black snow fence placed a short distance before the hole and says he was unable to stop his vehicle in time.
Mitchell county officials say the county is not liable under Iowa code.
A special county board of supervisors meeting was held today to discuss the lawsuit, but was closed to the public.
Evans is requesting a jury trial.
