Helping those impacted by Sexual Assault

training to help

ROCHESTER, Minn. — A local organization is looking for volunteers to be able to help assist and help to those dealing with Sexual Assault.

Victim Services in Rochester is holding a training session for their Sexual Assault Program.

It teaches prospective volunteers the necessary skills needed to become a crisis line advocate and to help people deal with or answer questions about sexual assault.

“It’s somewhere you can just talk about if you had a bad dream, if you had a bad experience with someone, had questions about reporting,” Violence Prevention Specialist Neil Dennison said.  “It’s just one of those confidential lines that people feel comfortable to call. You know there is always someone there to help.”

He adds besides Olmsted County, they do serve Dodge and Fillmore counties and could use volunteers in those areas.

To help become a volunteer, you can call: 1-507-328-7276.
