MASON CITY, Iowa – A generous donation from one Iowa group is helping to ease the burden of heating costs this winter.
North Iowa Community Action Organization is accepting the $121,000 check from Alliant Energy in hopes of making heating bills on low income families more affordable.
Both groups say the cooperation is needed now more than ever as freezing temperatures continue to make heating your home more and more expensive.
“They want to help and participate in alleviating the burden of the heating costs during winter months. So they came together with us and partnered with us to provide us with this $121,000 to ease that burden on our low income households,” said Dick Goerdt, Executive Director with North Iowa Community Action Organization.
The donation was a portion of a $3 million contribution for Alliant Energy’s service area in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
