Man arrested after incident in Mason City

Mason City Domestic Situation

UPDATE – As police responded to a domestic situation in Mason City, they were told that a male in the residence had armed himself with a firearm.

A phone call from a female in the home to dispatchers was terminated by the male.

Officers set up a perimeter around the property.

Police also used the Code Red Notification System telling residents in the neighborhood to take shelter in their basements.

48-year-old Joe Randall exited the home and was arrested without incident. Randall was charged with Simple Domestic Assault and Obstruction of 911 communications.

MASON CITY, Iowa – A police presence was seen outside of a home in Mason City.

Officials on the scene tell us it was in response to a domestic  situation at the home.

The Mason City Police Department was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, and the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office at 946 1st Street Southeast.

Parts of the road were blocked off during the incident.

It was over by around 11:45 p.m.

Authorities tell us no one was injured.
