KIMT News 3- The number of people killed by fires in Minnesota dropped 14% from 2012, that’s according to a new state report.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety says there were 43 fire fatalities in 2013, compare that to 50 in 2012 and 56 in 2011.

Authorities say the only acceptable number is zero, but are encouraged by the numbers. The state all-time low fire-death number was 35 in 2009, the highest was 134 in 1976.
