It’s a decision that many didn’t see coming, a Polk County Judge opening up the Iowa Juvenile Home, and today we’re hearing reaction from local law makers.
A sub committee is meeting this afternoon to address many of the concerns that were happening at the Juvenile Home in Toledo.
State Senator Amanda Ragan says now is a good opportunity to get some bipartisan work done.
“We need to move forward and we need to look at what’s best for the children and work on how we can handle the situation for their lives,” says Ragan.
Governor Terry Branstad stands by his decision to close the facility saying his “utmost concern is the health, safety and education of the children who did not receive adequate care there.”
