UPDATE – A man suspected of an armed carjacking in Mankato, that led to a lengthy stand off on January 14th in Austin, is now in jail in Blue Earth County.
On Friday at 2:35 PM, The Faribault County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office, Mankato Police Department, Minnesota Lake Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Wells Police Department and the South Central Drug Task Force SWAT Team executed a Search Warrant at 215 Main Street in Minnesota Lake, Minnesota.
23-year-old Thomas Kendricks III of Mankato was arrested. Kendricks was wanted in connection to an armed robbery on January 13th in Le Hillier in Blue Earth County and in connection to a carjacking in the City of Mankato. The stolen car was later found in Austin. That led to a 9 hour standoff on January 14th, and kicked off a search for Kendricks.
A 14 year old female was located with Kendricks. The female had been missing from the City of Mankato since January 28th.
Evidence was collected relating to the crimes committed in Blue Earth County and those items are being retained by the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office.

AUSTIN, Minn – Police have searched a home in Austin after a nine-hour standoff, but the carjacking suspect authorities were searching for remains at large.
Officers arrested two people who left the home Tuesday. But police say a 23-year-old man is still at large.
Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger says authorities believe the man was involved in a carjacking in Mankato Tuesday morning.
Seven people exited the home in northwest Austin Tuesday. Two men and two women exited in the morning.
A child wearing pajamas left the house around 2:25 p.m., followed moments later by a young woman and a man.
Police had used a loudspeaker to communicate with people inside, and at least twice used flash-bang grenades.
