MASON CITY, Iowa – You’ve most likely been busy with the winter: shoveling, scrapping, snow blowing the list goes on.
The same goes for the Iowa State Patrol, as more people slide off roads and find themselves in tough travel situations.
Iowa State Patrol Lieutenant Dan Schaffer says his troopers have been working extra hard helping distressed drivers.
While Lt. Schaffer has seen a lot he says this is one of the busiest winters he’s ever seen.
“We extend shifts for officers that are working. We bring officers out early so we try to have additional people out,” said Schaffer.
Lt. Schaffer says it gets especially hectic since his troopers have to cover eight counties.
