Dental decay is the number one preventable disease among children.
Pediatric dentists want to remind parents of the importance of their child’s dental health.
February is Nation Child’s Dental Health month but dentists say it’s something that needs to be a priority all year long.
One north Iowa pediatric dentist says helping or supervising children brush their teeth is something parents should make part of their routine.
“So many times parents will say, “gosh I don’t know she does it herself, she doesn’t let me.” If you’re not doing it for your child you should at least be supervising,” says Dr. Todd Hoeppner.
He said children should start seeing the dentist at age one and continue to come in for visits every 6 months.
