MASON CITY, Iowa – The day lovers look forward to all year is only hours away; however, those in love are not the only ones that anticipate the Valentines Day holiday.
It goes without saying that Valentines Day is the busiest day of the year for floral shops everywhere.
Taking steps to prepare ahead of time is a must.
Nancy Umphrees, owner of Baker Floral, prepares by bringing in extra people for deliveries and answering telephone calls so no request goes unnoticed.
“I love it as an owner standpoint, we have lots of hours that are put it so it creates a lot of stress and being tired but it’s always great because you can sell anything to love struck people,” says Umphress.
She also requires that her part time staff work a full time week.
From an owner’s standpoint, the holiday is well worth the preparations and stress.
She tells us that she has ordered 2,700 roses for the holiday and will sell out.
