MASON CITY, Iowa – One north Iowa group is giving an incentive for area businesses to bring in tourists.
Award winners range from area businesses to events like the Up In Smoke Bash.
Those with visit north Iowa say they match the amount raised by each local event for advertising in hopes of retaining and expanding visitor spending in north Iowa.
Last year tourism contributed $95 million into Mason City’s economy.
“The criteria are based upon visitor spending and economic impacts. Those awards are given to those events that bring in lots of tourists that are here for multiple days, do very well in this program,” said Sue Armour, Executive Director of Visit Mason City.
