Traffic deaths increase on Minnesota roads

KIMT NEWS 3 — 2014 is off to a deadly start on Minnesota roads.
There have been 31 traffic deaths on roadways through February 12th.
More than half of those deaths are blamed on the lack of seat belt use and speeding.
Law enforcement leaders tell us these are preventable and a reminder to the importance of wearing your seatbelt and watching your speeds.
“You have to have your seatbelt on 100% of the time,” Sgt. Jacalyn Sticha of the Minnesota State Patrol said. “You don’t know when that crash will occur. You have to keep your speeds down 100% and you have to be fully aware of what’s going on around you on the road.”
She adds the 31 total deaths thus far are an increase of ten from a year ago during the same time frame.
