Area organizations opening doors to help

KENSETT, IA — Many places were offering a helping hand and a place to stay for those who were evacuated from their homes early today.
Bethany Lutheran Church in Kensett was one of many in our area opening their doors to help.
They received a call earlier in the day, alerting them to the possibility they may be needed to help house people.
Church officials it was a group effort to help those in need.
“They called early this morning saying to prepare for a few people,” Church President Herb Thompson said. “Well, we got a little more than a few. But, we’re full.  Food has been coming in by the truck loads and we’ve got cots here in case we need to use them.”
He says the support from the community was outstanding to help get everything ready in a short amount of time.
