Freezing septic systems

SEPTIC SYSTEMS

CERRO GORDO COUNTY, Iowa – Public health officials are warning rural residents about freezing septic systems.
Cerro Gordo county has seen an increase in the problem, and their recommendations go against what in-town residents are hearing about frozen water lines.
Rural residents using a septic system should not run water to keep water lines open.
That’s because a constant addition of water into a septic system can cause the system to freeze up. That will lead to backups in the home.
You are asked to find an alternative way to keep water lines flowing.
