CHARLES CITY, Iowa – A Nora Springs man is pleading guilty to sexually abusing a minor.
As part of a larger plea agreement, 70-year-old, Ronald Calvert is pleading guilty to one count of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor.
In today’s hearing, Calvert admits to forcibly touching an eleven year-old girl on her privates back in 2009.
The felony carries with it a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison with the possibility of parole.
However, Calvert would have to serve at least 70 percent of that term behind bars.
Authorities originally charged Calvert with four counts of second-degree sexual assault and four counts of third-degree sexual abuse. Class B and Class C felonies respectively.
Calvert did not make a statement other than answering questions asked by Judge Colleen Weiland.
His sentencing is scheduled for the May 5 at the Floyd County Courthouse.
Calvert is being held at the Floyd County Jail.
