KIMT News 3 – When a military veteran returns home, he or she can often have trouble finding work or may desire a career change. Members of a national group are working to link those veterans with careers in agriculture.
Jason Kerr, with the Farmer Veteran Coalition of Iowa is an Army veteran as well as a farmer. He says the skill set a veteran learns in the military field is very transferable to the farm field.
“Very disciplined,” Kerr said. “There are times when the weather’s not perfect – maybe it’s wet or a little cold – and you’ve gotta be out there getting something done. You just know you’ve got to go out there and get it done.”
