CLEAR LAKE, Iowa – With temperatures as cold as they’ve been, many people are looking ahead to summer. And that’s reflected in the number of people already signing up for campsites at Iowa state parks.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says many of its campgrounds have already maxed out their available spots for Memorial Day weekend. The reservation window opened on Sunday, and by Tuesday morning, six state parks, including Clear Lake, had filled up.
There are still some parks with openings, including McIntosh Woods. But, that park is close to capacity as well. If you don’t get a chance to reserve a spot, the DNR holds many sites for walk-up campers. Expect to arrive a few days early if you want to snag one of those spots.
