Brain injury advocacy day

MASON CITY, Iowa –  Folks from around the area are speaking out in Des Moines to address the needs of Iowans with brain injuries.

And one resident is happy with how things turned out.

Kacey Vaughan is one strong man.

He is suffering from a brain injury in a car accident when he was 20.

Now, he and his parents are doing their part to raise awareness about brain injuries for others in the same position.

“So we’re trying to get the money so that we can get the people off the waiting list they need to be able to get services just like we have for Kacey,” said Jackie Vaughan.

Vaughan wants to see housing set aside for others like her son.

She says right now more than 900 people are on a waiting list around the state to receive the services they need to recover from their injuries.
