CLEAR LAKE, IA – There’s a new man taking over the role of Clear Lake Police Chief, for now.
Clear lake native and current Lieutenant Rex McChesney has been appointed as the interim chief.
Former Chief, Greg Peterson, is retiring. So city council members were tasked with electing a new candidate.
Long time police officer McChesney has been in the force since 1983, but this week he is being sworn into his new role.
“It’s exciting. I mean it will be exciting; we have a good bunch of officers here. We’re getting a new police department so it’s going to be a fun time,” said McChesney.
The city council will decide at a later time if McChesney will be offered a more permanent spot as police chief.
