WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Iowa – Tuesday, voters in Winnebago County will decide whether to fund a major project in their area.
The county is looking to build a new law enforcement complex and jail in Forest City. It requires about $5 million dollars in bonds to fund the project.
The sheriff says, the existing facility has structural issues and has been cited numerous times by the state jail inspector for deficiencies and code violations.
County leaders have met with the public over the past few weeks to discuss the plans and answer any questions. Polls open Tuesday morning at 7:00 am.
