Local campgrounds hope for a turn-around this season

Last summer many area campgrounds found themselves in some tough times with flooding issues putting a damper on business.

But this upcoming camping season is forecasted to be one of the busiest that campgrounds have seen in a while.

Campgrounds like Yogi Bear’s JellystonePark in Austin have seen a significant uptick in reservations.

“My reservations are extremely high for right now people are ready to come out for memorial weekend all the way until Labor day weekend, I do have reservations that I’m almost full for Labor Day weekend already,” says one of the owners, Tammy Westrich.

Besides interest in camping being on the rise – camper sales are also up right now.
