Helping out local law enforcement

CERRO GORDO CO., Iowa – Local law enforcement officials help people every day, but now there is a way for you to help them.

Sheriff Kevin Pals announced that Cerro Gordo County residents can get involved in and become honorary members of the Iowa State Sheriffs’ & Deputies’ Association.

The organization helps provide technical resources, training, and information on criminal justice issues to area officials and by becoming a member, residents can help fund these resources.

It’s an out-of-the-box idea having something that acts like a fundraiser for local officials, but it’s something Sheriff Pals is very excited about.

“I think it’s a good way for the public to support their local law-enforcement,” he said, “people want to help but they don’t really know how to help, so this is a fairly inexpensive way.”

Membership applications will be sent to everyone in the county by mail and all fees for the membership will go directly to the organization.

For individuals looking to get involved it is just $25 to become a member, and businesses can show their support too for a minimum of $50 contribution
