There is a unique scholarship being offered at an area community college aimed at giving women a second chance at an education.
It’s called the Garrity-Sandage Door Opener Scholarship and it’s being offered by NIACC.
The college is seeking female applicants 40-years of age or older who are either, divorced, separated or widowed.
“This is a scholarship that helps women go back to school, to find a career path that they will feel uplifted in pursuing,” says Scholarship Coordinator, Andrea Mujica.
Longtime Mason City resident, the late Shirley Sandage, established the scholarship in 2010.
Interested women are encouraged to contact the NIACC’s admissions office to develop a plan.
