There’s no more time to procrastinate if you’ve waited when it comes to health insurance.
The deadline for open enrollment is just around the corner, but what some people are unaware of is the March 31st deadline doesn’t just apply to the official Health Insurance Marketplace but also to all individual health insurance policies.
Finance specialists warn folks that if you miss the end of march deadline you won’t be able to enroll until November.
“You may be thinking well, I’ll wait a couple months and I’ll have money set aside, you can’t. The open enrollment period will not be available until November 15th so if you don’t get it by the end of this month, you’re out of luck until November 15th,” says family finance specialist with the Iowa State Extension, Brenda Schmitt.
She also says if you don’t enroll by the end of the month you’ll be charged penalties for each person in your family when it comes time to do your taxes next year.
