ALBERT LEA, Minn. — The inconsistent weather may be annoying us, but it is actually good for the spring flood outlook.
In Albert Lea specifically, a spot of Main Street tends to have flooding issues. That is because it is a low level road that is impacted a lot by Albert Lea Lake.
It is a MnDOT roadway and the city has talked to them about raising it in the past, yet there are no plans to do so now. So they have come up with their own solution for now.
“We’ve raised up our alternative routes so when Main Street does flood we make sure we have alternative routes. For a while there our detour route also flooded so it was a bad situation,” said Albert Lea City Engineer Steve Jahnke.
He said a big rain or sudden warm up could change the outlook, but for spring flooding things are looking good.
